A sigh intertwined
with relief, after being delivered
from the night.
A release of breath caresses my face,
parts the clouds.
Golden tendrils of joy dance
with anticipation, drinking up
my tears coating the ground.
My eyes open wide,
taking in the splendor
with new vision. The Son’s-light cradles my face
easing the worry of my brow.
On my knees I dip into the water
My streaks of mascara are washed away _____________clean
A hand clasps mine, I am guided to stand.
I am weightless
My arm lifts and my gaze focuses
on a hand dripping crimson, wrist wrapped
with a knotted porcelain veil
pierced with streaks of gold.
I am new.
